I used to think that trust is everything, and being honest was the foundation of every good relationship, but after someone lied to my face I can't trust anymore.

It is true that trust is the cement of a relation. If you can trust your partner, then your relation is more likely to work out than if you are together with a compulsive liar.
Without trust, there is no long term relation possible. At least, that is the way I see it. However, relations become increasingly difficult to maintain in life because a majority of people prioritize other factors much more than trust and that is why so many relations fail with time.
However, if you know that your partner cannot be trusted, then you should also not be in a relation because this will only lead to toxicity and a low quality relation.
I think the last thing you said is really important. Not to be in a relation were you can't trust your partner. The hard part from now on it's to open myself so I can find out if I can trust them
