I met a girl through a dating app and felt I had found my significant other.
This girl fled her home country due to war and did not know or have any friends. As time went by, she was introduced to some friends by the host-family member where she was staying.
I was happy for her that she had started to make new friends and wanted to give her as much freedom as possible. A guy from this group had begun to see her more often, but she was honest and told me this was going on and understood if I was not happy about her meeting this guy. She told this guy that there could not be anything besides friendship, which this guy agreed to.
After some time, this guy declared that he loved her and wanted to marry her and said he would never give up chasing her. At this point, everything went south. I let anxiety catch me and started to push this girl to officially create a relationship with me. One day we met, and she said she wanted a break as she had a lot of thoughts about the war and did not want extra problems regarding relationships.
I was sad to hear this but told her that I would allow her the break if that were what she wanted. She occasionally messages me good morning/goodnight texts during this' break'. I felt tortured and decided to call her after a week to see if she was able to conclude continuing a relationship or not. She said she liked me but felt that I was moving too fast to label our relationship. I let anger take over my emotion and hung up after saying goodbye in a rude way (ever since we had 0 contact)
A few days ago was her birthday, and I called her again to wish her a happy birthday, which she said she was pleased to hear. I told her I was sorry and would like to meet to reconcile in person one day. She said she would think about it.
