Is this guy being a lousy friend?

I am pretty sure I know the answer, but I want to get others perspective. I met up with my guy friend this past weekend and everything was fine. We were eating then he wanted to meet his friend on the boardwalk. So we left met his friend & a girl the friend brought with him. Fine. Then he proceeded to walk me home because the other two Live near him and its late for me to walk alone. Then the guys other friend popped up.. I live in a metro area and my citizen app always going off with incidents. We all sat down & 10 min later he asks if I would mind walking home. I should have said yes I do mind, but it was tired and it was late. I texted him to say that I won't be walking home alone again, and if he can't stay sober enough to walk me 10 min then I will call it an early night. He went on the train with the girl who he vaguely knows, so she got home safe! I haven’t reached out to him since then. That was just totally unacceptable

Personally I would feel the same and the level of friendship I had with that friend will automatically drop but I would never let myself walk home by myself if its dangerous. I would have stated that almost immediately when he asked you. I have no idea why he didn't want to walk you anymore and I would want to know before fully making judgement but regardless I would prefer to have friends who I can count on when they said they would do something because I know I would do the same. just personally though! Im not sure if you were close to this person

I was but not anymore. I thought about it & I should have insisted. I was intoxicated & he knows it was wrong which is why he hasn’t reached out. He would prefer to go MIA which is better for me!! The other girl in the party was whining she was tired & the dude she went with wanted to hang longer.. not my problem. He went on the train with her since she lives near him.. he will most likely try to use the excise that I know the area & she doesn’t. I have a child she doesn’t.. she was not his responsibility I was. Just decided to ditch me for a stupid reason. I don’t care if he was intoxicated. He was good enough to get himself on the train he can walk me 10 min. She can come or let her friend get her a cab. Trust me, he is on the bottom of the totem pole now. A week ago he wouldn’t allow me to take the train past 9 pm.. so he’s on my s*** list

Wow... This guy just lowered the bar. I have never, nor would I ever, let a girl walk home alone at night. Heck I've even been close to getting mugged and assaulted a few times walking myself home. It seems like in the past 20 years many kids that have recently become young men are growing up to be real dousches. Some of it could be poor parenting, some of it could be friend environments. Not many young men are being taught how to treat a lady anymore I guess.

WOW! That's horrible. Unfortunately I know people of that age range that act this way as well. My feelings are a mixture of disappointment and confusion when it comes to those individuals.

A non existent friend.. At night in my job I take complete strangers all over the place, and If one of my fares is a woman on her own, I wait until she has opened, then closed the door before I drive off.. It is just common courtesy.. But to make someone you KNOW walk home on her own? That quite frankly disgusts me!

Thanks, I figured! Doesn’t matter that the rest of the time when he’s sober I will not get on the train past 8:30. He will rationalize it saying he was drunk. He got himself and mutual friend on the train fine!
