When you've cheated for the first time, was it been spontaneous or premeditated/planned? If you haven't cheated what do you think most situations are?

I feel like it's technically always planned even for a second in advance, so just for statistical purposes,
If you didn't even consider cheating until the interaction that led to cheating, please pick spontaneous.

If someone has cheated on their SO with you, then please use that as the answer unless you are unsure what he/she was thinking. Then I have other options for those.

Spontaneous. Back in 2010 or 2011, I emotionally cheated which included sexting, but no sex. No worries, I broke up with my ex as soon as possible.

Why did I do it? Well, I didn't plan it. Basically, the relationship wasn't good. He had a legit gaming addiction, dropped out of college, wouldn't get a job, and our relationship suffered greatly. After his dad got him help, I was so relieved, but I had already shutdown in the relationship to a point of no return. Random guy I met saw my vulnerability and took advantage.

Anyway, I got what I deserve, new guy was verbally abusive which is why the relationship moved so fast. I know I was garbage for doing that, but I really hope my ex is happily married or something

It was totally spontaneous, not planned as I was living with my BFF and my man hadn't moved in yet... we started messing around and it just happened.

Later I corrected things by messing around with her in front of him and then drawing him in so now I could confess and he was totally okay with it... as he got a FFM out of it. My BFF was in on it and totally okay with the plan too, in case you might be wondering.

I mean if you are in a relationship where you would spontaneously cheat on your SO, then I don't think it just happens spontaneously, because you have to be in a state of mind that you are open to the possibility.

So I never cheated, because I never actively sought out the opportunity, but I have been in some pretty toxic relationships where if the opportunity just dropped into my lap I would of did it... and I would not say it was spontaneous because at that point in my relationship I was open to the possibility... I just never acted on it consciously... but sub subconsciously I was ready to cheat.

Interesting question. Never participated in or been cheated on. But, can't comment on what percentage of cheating is premeditated or spontaneous.

Maybe there are statistics on this? Planning to cheat seems pretty distasteful. My guess is initial cheating is most likely spontaneous... Then comes the planning to continue the cheating.
