Boyfriend said I can’t come over on Friday night because he is going to be irritated after work, but went for a beer with a female friend. Thoughts?

Yesterday (Thursday) I asked my boyfriend if I could stay over at his place on Friday and he said that he’s going to be tired and irritated after work and that I should rather come on Saturday, which I agreed to. This afternoon (Friday), I asked him again and he said no because he’s irritated and he has a headache.

I called him at around 8pm just to check in and he didn’t answer his phone. Then he sent me a message later saying that he’s out having a beer with a female friend.

I don’t know how to feel about this… he didn’t lie and told me where he was. But at the same time, he said I couldn’t come over because he’s irritated and tired, but instead went for a beer with another female.

What is your opinion on this?

Ehhh you could’ve easily joined both of them for a beer and that’s sad that he didn’t invite you. I would definitely be just as skeptical as you are. Being irritated after work isn’t an excuse

Exactly! I would have happily joined them for a beer. Another thing I am concerned about is the fact that I have seen how this chick behaves around him and she definitely likes him. He has told me again and again that he isn’t attracted to her and that nothing will ever happen between them. They’ve been good friends for longer than we have been dating, and I trust him, so I didn’t think anything of it. But now he’s blowing me off to get drinks with her? I don’t know what to think anymore

@asker friendships do not work that way. Friendships both people need to not be attracted to each other. In my opinion he has no respect for you if he’s hanging out with a girl he knows is attracted to him. It’s literally just his decision on whether or not the friendship aspect sticks. I personally think you need to have a long talk with him or consider breaking up with him

No he did give a name, I just didn’t think it would be relevant to add to the post. I know her well because she’s a good friend of his. The issue I have with her is that I can see through her actions that she likes him. I’ve brought this up to him before and he brushed it off by saying they’ve been good friends for years and that he isn’t attracted to her at all. I’m just hurt by the fact that he told me not to come over because he’s feeling irritated after work, and then went out with her.
