My daughter’s dad and I were dating for a long time before breaking up 3 years ago the first time (we kind of just fooled around after getting back in contact 6 months afterwards), since then we’ve had our daughter (7 months old) and we’ve been okay. We spoke yesterday and he said how he wanted to start over as friends and put the past behind us, basically a clean slate and meeting each other all over again. But still being sexual with each other, would it be best to put a pause on that since we’re “starting over fresh” or it doesn’t matter? I think so but I don’t really know.

We were young and after being together for 4 years it just wasn’t working anymore. In between then and now we kind just messed around and kept in touch but wasn’t really trying to get back together. I got pregnant with our daughter and I still wasn’t really feeling it. Yesterday he said he wanted to start over as friend and put the past behind us and move forward from there. Even though he’s the only man I’ve been intimate with, part of me feels like starting over on a clean slate with eachother and seeing how things go shouldn’t include sex anymore (it’s been mutual since then)

I think I should ask who's your daughter staying with before claiming to understand anything, because that's also confusing me a bit.
Since he agreed to break he should've also lost that 'spark' with you or just taken a back and want a break after the end of your romantic relationship. Maybe he's just missing you as person but is used to the former touches between you and him? Since your relationship had gone for years and even a baby is there.

She stays with me, we haven’t been back together in an official relationship since 2019. Yet in between us still physically seeing each other I’ve gave birth to her early this year. Now he wants to start over as friends on a clean slate
