I'm only guessing here but I think it goes back to the early days of lawful civilization.
During the stone ages reproduction of the concept of partners was very animalistic and different: a male would look for a fertile female capable of giving him strong healthy children which ensures the survival of his legacy, and females look for a strong male capable of defending them during labor as they are the weakest and would be killed by a predator.
But one thing that has always been a theory is polygamy for males and hypergamy for females.
Meaning the more alpha a male is the more females he could impregnate and they would be ok with eachother as the only thing they care about is spawning healthy children.
And a female would leave her male partner if another stronger one came along.
Then humans evolved into settlers instead of nomads, they built society and with it invented laws such as not killing one another for no reason. My theory is that one of these laws was not taking the partner of another which eventually became applicable to women not leaving their partner and with time they made it so neither man nor woman can leave once they get together and as many religions appeared the interpretation changed and we now have marriage. q
This long winded history lesson is all to say the rules of conventional marriage are not holy, they are not part of natural evolution, they are simply a convenience put in¹ place by humans while they built society

God, Religion , Marriage is a commitment through God and religion , people that say marriage is just a piece of paper shouldnât be getting married at all , honestly , there is no point of wasting your time if you canât commit to someone , If I marry a girl I want her to love and sacrifice for me like I will do for her , remove selfishness for each other and make each other our number 1 priority , it wonât always be perfect because no one is perfect but love only grows when 2 people remove selfishness for each other and value each other , we canât force someone to love us we can only give what we want to receive , itâs easy for us to be selfish , we all have selfishness in us , if you canât remove selfishness for your partner then you shouldnât be in a relationship because they wonât be able to remove selfishness for you
both my husband and I say that rules of marriage was brought about from weaker sexually people, so they wouldn't miss out on sex, but were forceful in other things,
I think she did 👇🏻🤓🥸

monogamy was not the conventional way for many cultures of the past. Neither was getting married for love. for me cheating is very simple to understand. I define cheating as withholding any facts that would keep me from making a decision that is best for me. so its not even about sleeping around, its sleeping around and not telling me, basically having me believe you are living by the same standards and expectations i am but in reality you are not

as far as I know... I was never handed any set of rules to follow by nobody, lol
my partner and I decide what and how our relationship is going to be...
so I guess we're not conventional people... lol Fuck conventional rules, do what works for you. I don't know who invented them and I don't know why people still play along with them. Be yourself and be happy
What rules? There are rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules, Witty. You and I have never followed any that I know of, have we?
Very good question. I think it just evolved as mankind crawled out of the primordial ooze.
I think these rules should all be dead in the past
Religion I would say, then when it became norm culture took over. These days however I feel people make (and break) their own rules. The key is communication and agreement.
What would you two like to change the rules to?
Cheating is when one of the people in the couple has sex with the opposite sex without permission or without telling the spouse/significant other
Who made the rules and laws for the grand majority of human history? there's your answer.
Wanna know that too, can't it be changed? I just prefer to customize it
God did. And lasting after someone in their heart is cheating
It has evolved over time, but I think religion has played the largest role.
It dates back to crave man times,
Everyone had a part in it, I guess.
No clue. Let me know when you find out.
