If someone just got out of a relationship a few months ago and isn't ready for a relationship right now, is it possible they’ll come back?

we had such a great time together. And he was genuinely interested and wanted to continue things but he struggled bc he just got out of a relationship a few months ago. So his reasoning for not being ready is understandable. We had such a great time together and of course a part of me hopes when he is ready he’ll want to reconnect down the road. We have mutual friends , and we are still on social media , and we left on good terms.

I'm the opposite. I'm female just got out of long term and was dating a guy. Great time. I pulled back. He is bewildered. I think it was because I enjoyed the attention at first but I'm not ready for myself let alone a new someone
