I would certainly not date someone who is unemployed. I respect stay at home parents, but that is not appealing to me when I'm looking for a partner. I would strongly prefer my partner have a job and pay his share of bills and contribute to the household expenses. Considering the crazily high skyrocketing prices these days, a two income relationship would be much more stable (financially) than a single income one. Besides, I value financial independence more. If he was unable to pay for his own stuff, that would put the burden on me and I don't think I could be happy in such a relation.

For me, it is important that my partner and I keep our expenses and money separate and pay for our own stuff. So yes, I do find the concept of a "malewife" rather unappealing.
