Voted No. It is childish name calling. It is a tribute to the never ending ingenuity of the human mind to make up new ways to substitute epithets for analysis. It is emotional self-satisfaction taking the place of reasoned debate ("Look at how good I am and how awful you are?"), and a net subtraction from the already highly limited stock of human reason and civility.
However, in all that, using a proper name as an acronym as a pejorative - albeit a proper name that is generally used by females - cannot be counted sexist. Unless of course it would have its' equivalent in using a male name.
Even then, calling someone a "Karen" a sexist insult would be the least of its' problems.
Sexism implies the marginalisation of all women. A Karen is a particular type of woman. You can hate Karens without hating all women, which in no way makes you sexist.
That is actually not really true. Sexism is not the marginalization of all women. It is the marginalization of women on the basis of sex. You can claim that women some women should be marginalized base upon their beliefs, their looks, etc. How would that not be sexism if your assessment is primarily concerned with the fact they are women?
@RolandCuthbert I stand corrected on my choice of words and technicalities but my point remains the same. A karen is a type of person, typically female. They are not indicative of all women, which is my disliking them is not sexist. My assessment is not concerned with them being women. I don't know what the male-alternative for the term is, but I'm pretty sure that there are male Karens as well and they are disliked for being that type of person, not for being male in particular.
Much the same way the literary term "Mary Sure" is typically applied to female characters, it is not sexist, because not all female characters in stories are Mary Sues.
I don't think "Karen" is a sexist term. Sexism refers to hate and/or general prejudice based on gender. The term "Karen" is used to refer to racist White women with an entitlement mentality that often makes demands inappropriately, causes unnecessary scenes, calls the police regarding non-emergency matters, and is prone to making false allegations against people, especially if they're Black. The term isn't based on negative views towards women in general, but rather to mock a specific brand of racist, entitled, histrionic, and emotionally unstable woman. Therefore, the term "Karen" isn't sexist.

Im a women and I've called plenty of men Karen and these people who act out and think its okay to have public melt down and act Intitled should be embarrassed and shamed. It's not okay and i hate how they treat people like objects that don't have feelings just because they are at work usually im retail doesn't make them superior as a customer. In most cases the customer is always wrong and these worker's are just going by work policy and they can't just make exceptions for Karens.

And what a few people view as Karen behavior is a projection of their own thinking. Not the majority but some. I'd say just use the term entitled. My daughter used to have a lot of these women at her restaurant job. 9 times out of 10 if I asked if they were my age she would say yes. Being older doesn't give someone the right to step on others who are younger.
No, a Karen is middle age white woman who likes to start shit up cause they are not getting their way. Once they get called out for their foul behavior, that's when they start to use their tears to invoke sympathy out of people in order to stop digging themselves further in the grave/ditch. These women know that, as a white woman, their tears are special kind of weapon that can get someone potentially killed or arrested.
It is a gender specific term. It is a character. A name given to men, though often as a compliment, Chad, should really be an insult. It's basically a man whore, some would rather be a whore with action than a bitch (incel) without it. See incels and chads are two sides of the same coin. Not all incels are virgins, they just gripe about not being able to get it. Both of these are so consumed with sex. Not all virgins are involuntary and have proved they value more than sex. So outside of that, I can't think of male equivalent to karen, but there are character types.

I think so. But I think also it is dismissive. There is a chance to have a conversation, but we are in a society that works with labels. So they are just labeling the "White" women and dismissing these incidents when there is an opportunity to have a conversation that can lead to understanding.
This incident is the one that really could have provided insightful analysis.

Just for the record he was intimidating her, he was also recording her against her wishes. He said his peace and should have moved along and stopped harassing her.
