At what point of a relationship do you begin using terms of endearment (babe, honey, etc) on another person?

I'm curious when others start using terms of endearment/pet names. I use hun a lot even with people I don't know. It's just a southern thing for me. Sweetie and cutie might come out during the flirting phase. Anything else means I have feelings most likely but will use them even before dating.

Men and women are always going to have different upbringing and will use words that they have considered endearment when they will. However, I know that if I or my buddies are flirting, we call our "target" mates something that we "hope" they will be! (That's being positive, no?)

I think my wife is the only one I ever did this with. I suppose it speaks volumes about all my previous relationships . I think I started doing it after a month or so now I do it all the time.
