Girls, how can I hint my girlfriend that I’d like her to try a different hairstyle/color? Am I wrong to even suggest it?

We’ve been together for more than 2 years and she’s had the same hairstyle/color since I met her. She dyes it black and it’s not that it looks bad on her, but her natural color (light brown as seen on childhood pictures) or any lighter tone would be way more suited for her. I don’t want to hurt her feelings or make her think I’m not attracted to her…

I am always alarmed when people ask others to changed something in their looks, appearance or behavior. That indicates a dissatisfaction with how the person is perceived.

You say that her current hair style and color does not look bad on her. Then why do you want to have her change something that does not look bad? Is it because YOU are tired of it and YOU want her to be or look different?

Have you ever asked yourself how you would react if your partner says that he/she would like you to wear different clothing, behave a different way or perhaps express yourself using less cursing? I am not sure you would like it because, indirectly, it is indicative that you don't like the way this person is.

While you can always ask, don't expect an enthusiastic reply.

I’d be totally open to try or do something different if she asks me the right way. If my behavior wasn’t adequate (impolite, rude, obnoxious or whatever) not only would I accept criticism from my partner, but also appreciate someone telling me I’m acting like an ass, but that’s a totally different matter.
If she were to tell me to shave because she doesn’t like beards, or to cut my hair a certain way because she thinks it’ll look better on me, I’d surely try it, but I’m a guy and us men may see these type of things differently.

Ask her if she has ever worn her hair in another style. Would she ever try something different. Depending on how open she is to discuss it would be the judge on suggesting something. Some people are sensitive others not so much. We don’t know your girlfriend so you have to judge.

I see nothing wrong with that. I prefer the truth and like when my man suggests new things. However sometimes I get sensitive about something and I know he wasn't trying to hurt my feelings.
