My fiance joked about marrying my aunt instead because she knows how to cook, should I be offended?

I'm hurt. It's a bad joke. He said he did not have any bad intentions and it was a thought that just popped in his mind. He loves food. I don't know how to cook. He said his love is unconditional so it doesn't matter. Yet along with that joke he said, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach".

I'm so mad at him right now!
I can't forgive him!

Am I being too sensitive?

I'm glad me and my fiance have sorted it out. He's determined to learn how to treat me better with my insecurities and he's trying to understand. I would be happy to learn how to cook for him. I asked him to remind me why he wants to marry me again and he said because he loves me and that I won his heart even a long time ago even when he knew that I can't cook (but he knows I can bake, and I can only cook lasagna). And that's the only thing I needed to hear. Thanks for all the advice. :)

As a man I say yes you’re being over sensitive cause things like that that we as men see as nothing don’t get offended. Y stuff like that. But as a girl I can only take your word for it as I will never know how you feel. There is some truth to jokes, but we tend to say jk after we make a even though it does bear some truth. Would you say you’re really mad at him for making that comment or yourself for not knowing how to cook?

It's no secret that women try to change men, try to "improve" them. Why can't men do the same? That's what he's doing, and he's not wrong. You should know how to cook. The good news is you can learn. Now you know it's important to him. It will sting for a while but you will (hopefully) become a better woman and wife as a result.

he was just teasing. since he is a foodie, you can always get your aunt to teach you to cook though.
