Are certain things better left quiet?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for nearly 2 years. I'm 27 and he's 31. We're at a stage where we're thinking about forming a family. We're saving money for that reason.

There is only one thing I've never told him. Then again he never asked either. All he is focused on is the present and what are my goals now. Long ago when I was 19, I got involved with my then friend's boyfriend for several months. They were dating since they were 16 year-olds and it was during our 1st year in college, that he started cheating on her with me.

She found out because she already suspected him of cheating. She pretended to go under another nickname and he admitted it all. She dumped both of us and we never spoke to each other again since. That's my only sad part in my story. I destroyed my friend's relationship and our years of friendship. Indeed that was terrible. The thing if I admit to all this, it's likely he won't see me the same.

Are certain things better left quiet? I do want to move on from this and have a family.

Reformed players get their chances too and some of them become devoted fathers. Can the same be applied here or do I have to forever be punished for something I've already paid the price: the lost of a good friendship.
