My boyfriend is still upset about Saturday's assault prank, what to do?

On Saturday I made a prank to my best friend and a couple relatives about getting punched and dragged across the room by the hair by my boyfriend during an argument. I was just joking but it got real too fast. I had to immediately remove my make-up and told them it was a prank.

Do you know how dangerous this prank could have turned out to be? What if someone reported him to the cops? Domestic violence is not something to joke or prank about. A lot of men and women are victims of domestic abuse, and their lives have gone miserable because of their abusive partners.

Has he ever been abusive towards you? Why on earth would you pick this out of all the other pranks that you could have pulled? You went too far with this one.

Because you joked about this once, this time, what if you end up in an abusive relationship a few years from now? Do you think your best friends or relatives would believe you then? This is like "the boy who cried wolf", you cried wolf once, but if this actually happens to you, nobody would be ready to believe you.

Of course, he is upset. Judging by your replies, you only seem to care about him talking to you again, I don't see even the slightest bit of guilt or remorse for your actions. You have to apologize to him and let everyone know that it was just a prank. Give him some space, he needs some time to process this. I'm not sure if he would want to stay in a relationship with you after this. Yeah, sucks big time, but if he does wishes to break up with you, accept it and move on. Do not ever repeat this again.

If it were me, nothing you could do would be sufficient to apologize, let alone make me feel better. I can't speak for him, and I don't know if he feels differently.

You can't do anything while he's not speaking to you, so all you can do is wait. If he talks to you again, you can try to apologize at that point.

You've probably lost him - full stop, If you think that this was a good prank I suggest you watch this video, it shows how fast a prank like this can get out of control; and it doesn't matter it being a prank as the accusation of assault will stick, even if you tell everyone it was a prank.

Thank you for the video. That was an extreme one, worse prank than mine. My prank was only suppose to last for a couple minutes (I never blocked him), nothing more than 5 minutes. Just like the woman in the video, this is the 1st time I've ever done a prank on him, the 1st time I've done a dark prank like that. I got curious after seeing prank videos on youtube and it got the best of me.

I recommended the video just so you could see how quickly a 'prank' like this can get out of control, and no man can allow it to stand given that the police and courts are slanted against men.
If you are very lucky and you will have to work damn hard to regain his trust, (because make no mistake you have broken that trust) he MAY stay will you but do not take that as a given and when you apologise to him it will have to be in public, as I'm willing to bet as the accusation of assault will have spread outside of your friend group, so your act of contrition will have to be public.
