How expensive is having a girlfriend because most guys I know keep saying to be single and save your money? So will they take all of your earnings?

By tradition, it can be extremely expensive. But in this age of wanting equality, we women have to accept that means we pay for a date, and at least split the bill sometimes. If you ask her to do that and she responds negatively, you should find someone else because the idea that you need to date her and she won't date back is totally unreasonable.

For gifts, they're a way lots of guys express interest and affection that women can understand clearly, especially if he's not good at articulating how he feels with words, so they can be important. But I think the right way to do it is to notice the things she likes, and only actually buy her something expensive once in a while for a special occasion or something. If she asks you for everything she wants, again, she's unreasonable. The relationship is with you, not your bank account. Stand your ground and don't let anyone guilt you into giving in.

The thing about expensive gifts is that if a girl sees you get one for her, she sees it as you deciding she's worth the money. So if celebrity brands and all the cash-sucking date places are out of your budget, or you don't feel like going broke in a month, find things for her that are meaningful. So that if money can't express your sincerity, you noticing things about her she doesn't have to point out are just as important. Like buying her favorite snacks, or drinks and giving them to her one day for no particular reason. Or chipping in with other people for an expensive item she's wanted for a while.

It doesn't have to be especially expensive if you find a good person and understand how to make her feel loved without handing her your credit card.

It depends. Some girls are really expensive. I always was a cheapskate and I always figured that if somebody could deal with that then they really liked me for myself. However I had a long distance relationship and plane tickets and phone calls were expensive.

If you want to keep her happy and available, then a girlfriend is more-often-than-not a huge money pit. Even if she makes more green than you, she'll still expect you to spend your cash on her to "prove" yourself. Granted, women seldom take on boyfriends or husbands who make less from the outset.

Prostitutes are quite a bit cheaper on balance. Pay more up front, pay much less in the long term.

It depends on what you allow. If you allow yourself to go cash flow negative on a girlfriend, then it can be so expensive it leads to bankruptcy. If you don’t, then it can have a very moderate impact on your savings rate and you can keep growing your savings. I recommend against the former. If you’re straight-up with a girl about what you do and where you are in your career it might scare off the gold diggers. That’s a good thing.

As expensive as you allow. I have a kept stay at home girlfriend and she costs only a few hundred a month total and returns probably about as much if not more in cash equivalent value, so basically zero cost. Not sure how people think girls are so expensive unless they don't know how to say no and just buy them anything and everything like a total simp moron.

However the truth is it's only as expensive as you allow it to be considering the prices of everything being on the rise. A good girl will care little about our money. A gold digger will try to take advantage of you and men with too much money.

It all depends on the woman you choose. Yes generally women are more frivolous then men, but not all. If you pick an bad one or allow one to lead you by the nose then that's on the guy. In the age of EQUALITY a woman has the ability to make almost as much as a man. If the man is unwilling to insist she hold up her end then that's on him.
