We're cordial. I think she likes me more than I like her. We have very different senses of family and morals. But I'd never bring it up, so I'm just quiet and polite.

I guess so? My mother in law speaks Chinese dialect so I have no idea what she’s saying. Always have to get my wife to run translator. 🙂
