We both choose and don’t choose who our heart aches for. Love, whether fortunately or not, isn’t fully rational sometimes.
Perhaps it is the most unfortunate souls who are looking for any care for them, that would rather be used by someone who doesn’t care rather than feel like nobody cares at all.
Perhaps they are trapped by some dogma or oath, some promise or contract, some ideology or obligation, that keeps them caring for someone who could care less. Sometimes this comes with a benefit, but sometimes it does not.

Fixation... heart was seen at a glimpse. A beautiful one too!
Darkness arrived, hell broke loose.
Big heart won't forget that glimpse he/she saw. It was the very essence and soul of the person cared for.
Before the demon took over and misery was playing.
Big heart had the will of a slayer; I will find you in there again with my prayers. And fight for what I once saw! Even if the price is my own core.

I think some people delude themselves into thinking that the person will change or start caring for them, but you can’t make or force someone to care about you or love you… And some people have more difficulty letting go/moving on…

a lot of people don't care for a lot of people and they get shamed for it.

recently there was a woman who made a post on GAG about using older men for money and being proud of it. eventually those older men will get fed up and stop caring and when they do stop caring they get called sexist and misogynists. it's basically a no win situation no matter what.

Feelings aren’t rational things. And besides; isn’t the whole idea of “owing” someone kind of missing the point of love? As soon as I hear someone use that terminology, that tends to be a red flag for me
