Should I move on?

My boyfriend of one year broke up with me, when I asked for the reason he said that his parents are against our marriage as my parents are separated.

I have been taking care of my mother and my brother as my father is not bothered with us. My brother has finished his architecture recently and is looking for a job, but is currently dependent on me and his parents are not ok with this. So he broke up with me. What should I do now?

There is not much you can do if that is your boyfriend's and his parents stance. It is a crazy one for sure. That is hardly your fault that your parents' marriage did not work out. That is also no indication that your relationship in the future will not either.

The problem is that they have some sort of hangup on this and believe that you are going to do the same thing to their son. There is nothing that you can do to change their view. Honestly, why would you at this point?

Just think of whatever the next possible thing they will find fault in you for that you had nothing to do with. I think that you just need to move on, as hard as that might be. They have unrealistic expectations and are blaming you for things that are out of your control.

Blaming you or finding fault that your own parents' marriage did not work out is like blaming you for any other person's faults. It just isn't right.
