I’ve never been in a relationship before. He’s more extroverted than me and I’m terrible at communicating because of internal issues and abuse in the past. So I don’t think I’ll ever ask because I have bad anxiety. He calls me pet names and tries to see me as much as possible. We’ve also done explicit stuff together. Is this type of behavior normal in exclusive relationships?

If you both admitted that you like one another then that is a step towards Relationship. It is not dating, seriousness, monogamy. It is undefined and wide open to interpretation. It sounds like he really does not know how to read you.
