Would you still date someone with tattoos even if you hated them?

I love my boyfriend very much. He’s known I’ve had tattoos since before we started dating (he didn’t know about a couple but knew I had some)

It’s become a point of contention. He loves me too and wants me in his life/we want a future. He can’t seem to see past my tattoos even though he loves the person I am.

EDIT: I think I should add to this, would you break up with someone because they have tattoos. Someone you’re already in a serious relationship with.

Unless you're in a gang or military tattoos nowadays typically have no meaning except to mar your skin. A lot of people say it's to be "different", etc... when a million people have the same butterfly tattoo in the same location. That's how dumb the concept is.

As for his problem with it, more than likely he sees his family having an issue with them and if they make you look unprofessional, trampy, etc. he's more than likely right.

Men want two specific things in a woman they're thinking of marrying. Someone who is caring & can potentially be a good mother. Someone they'd be proud to show to family.

Other things like job, education, aptitude, intelligence are bonuses but down to the bare bones they want a good mother & a woman they're proud to say is mum to those kids.

I’m not a fan of tattoos myself - I don’t have any and don’t want any. However my husband has a lot of tattoos - he had some of them before we started dating. They are very tasteful and well done, he only goes to one or two artists that he trusts. They are part of who he is as a person. I don’t hate his tattoos or that he has them.

I think that your boyfriend needs to make a decision about whether or not to stay in this relationship. He already knew and could likely see your tattoos before you started dating, and he followed through with dating you anyways. I think he is putting you in a difficult position, and in turn he is putting himself in a difficult position.

It depends on what the tattoos were. I mean if she had a tattoo of Hitler above her vagina with a speech bubble coming out of his mouth that said "mein cunt", I'd find it hard to keep the sails up if you know what I mean.

I'm not a big fan of tattoos which is why I don't have any. I'm not confident with someone else drawing on me. But people are more than their tattoos or piercings or even their hair styles in some cases. So yes, I could get serious with someone who had tattoos as long as they weren't something horrible like a picture of puppy being stabbed.

My wife got her first tattoo after we were married for 7 years. She surprised me with it.
Internally, I was FURIOUS because it was a large tattoo on her right leg calf. I loved my wife's legs and this tattoo was so heinous that she couldn't wear skirts anymore and hosiery was definitely out. The night she showed me that was the last time we had sexual intercourse.

I don't hate tattoos per se, but it is the amount and location that can be the warning sign.

My girlfriend has a small tattoo on her that is hidden and only visible if she is in a swimsuit, underwear, etc.

If she has like full sleeves on both arms (don't tango with that unless you are Tommy Lee) is like a walking art exhibit, or anything like that, it is a hard pass.

It depends on the tattoo. If they had a swastika, animals/children being killed, gory tattoos, or pornographic tattoos, I probably wouldn’t date them. But if they just had normal tattoos that were executed badly, that wouldn’t stop me dating them.

Totally get that. My thing is…this is someone I’m already with. He knew I had them but for some reason he can’t see past them now even though he’d already seen them a bunch of times, saw me naked, knew they were there etc

I have tattoos and if someone I was in a serious relationship with suddenly decided to hate on my tattoos, I’d leave them.

I know there was one time I was feeling insecure and asked if he would think any less of me if I got another.
I’ll acknowledge that I could of worded it better-I think he heard it as an ultimatum. I reassured him that that was not my intent. I got the feeling based on a past conversation that he hated my tattoos and I talked to him about it.

There are limits. I mean I'm not dating someone with a giant pair of boobs tattooed on their forehead, or obscenities/racist stuff/gang tats because clearly they are making poor life decisions and/or may end up in jail or punched in the face. That aside, face and neck and full body tattoos would be a real stretch for me, but never say never. You try not to completely judge the book by the tattooed cover....I said..."try."

My ex had a tattoo of piglet on her arm and I'm not going to lie, it was kind of shit. As in badly drawn but no I could deal with it as it had emotional meaning to her about her parents. If you gonna have tattoos you shouldn't cheap out you got to commit though

No. Actually there was someone a few years ago at work that liked me and we got along well, but after I found out she had tattoos and she planned on getting tattoo sleeves (on her legs) I just lost attraction and interest in her.

Hey regardless of the ink you have he knew what ink you had. That is a huge loss on his part. If I’m already dating someone with ink and I know what they look like. Ofcouse I’d stay. That’s a decision that should have been made before he got into it. And you NEVER change! That is your body and no one else’s. If you choose to have have ink or not have ink. Or to even remove it. That should be your choose and no one else’s!

I love 99% of her tattoos but there's one she got that i couldn't stand where she got it tattood it was on the side of her head and at first when i saw it i freaked out. I was thinking what have you done what did you do uggg. The tattoo itself i didn't mind it's where she got it that i didn't like. All her other ones are fine. But at the end of the day it's her body and her choice where she gets tattood and what kind of tattos she gets. Granted i may not like it but i hace to respect her decisions as a person
