How can I gain his respect?

I met a guy on a dating app and we were seeing each other casually. But I do really like him as a person and would like him to take me seriously. Not just for a relationship but friendship. Can I turn the situation around to gain respect from him and what can I do?

How can he get to know me if he rarely replies to messages. I think he feels overwhelmed. And when say give some space. How much space? For example he texted me 5 days ago and I texted him today as I came across his social media and wanted to compliment him.

See, if he wants to get to know you. He'll initiate things. If you try to make him speak or hangout, he'd most likely get annoyed. It's still new so I'd give him space and let him come to me if I were you
