Do you process your emotions by talking?
I've heard this described as something women do... they have to "talk it out" to process their emotions. That was used to justify how much women like to talk.

I like to process thoughts by discussing and talking them through. But I don't find it particularly helpful to go on and on about emotions. I'm comfortable talking about them and sharing, but not as a way of processing them.
Discussing emotions requires too much introspection. Why would anyone but a shrink or therapist want to hear about that shit?
for some women, and best I recall have only seen with certain personalities, they talk about their emotions and what they are feeling all the time. It was described as essential to processing their emotions.
I don't mind listening and empathizing. But, baring my own soul isn't often necessary and it's kind of uncomfortable to do deep analysis and put it into words.
I try to stay happy by doing what I want to do, so I don't have a lot of emotional issues or drama to process.
I agree with you that it's more common for women. They tend to analyze everything and seek feedback and reinforcement from their girlfriends.
agree. I find examining the "why"s of my reactions, what I want to do about that is helpful, but just figuring out what I feel... emotions, I don't do that as much, that's hard.
No, to be honest I talk about my feelings and my emotions very little. I need to be prodded and pushed to do that - generally by women. They not only talk about their feelings and whatever goes through their heads, but they also want to know everything I'm thinking.
It's like they can't resist brain-picking.
they like to be in your emotions, for various reasons...
They are like free therapists.
I usually do that, so yes.. but sometimes I just process it by being alone and thinking about it.

Yeah, I know women that do that only because I have dated them for greater than a year etc...
I do have a variety of approaches and not just one...
and yes, this is one of them as well
I turn to talking if there's important information, or if I'm too overwhelmed to simply think it through on my own. Otherwise, I microanalyze the issue mentally, until I'm satisfied that I sufficiently understand it.
I usually just ignore the whole thing. Eventually it will blow over.
Emotions are too simple to need more than a milisecond of processing.
Who gets confused about a feeling?
Like if something pisses you off, you don't sit there trying to figure out if you're mad, you just instantly know that you are.
If I can't figure out a way to fix the problem, I just ignore it.
