If you are speaking to compensating another for allowing you to stay at her place then you are doing good. Average 1 bedrooms where I am are 1200.00. I would pay what she asks and be thankful where I live. I do not know your average rental rate where you are, therefore, this is a guess.

are you expecting cheaper rent? Sometimes it doesn't work that way. Why should she have to pay more in rent just because she is a friend. Sorry but rent and bills should be equal 50/50 amongst all housemates regardless if you are friends or not. I mean you are living there right
