Can we fall in love online?

I met someone online a year ago. We've been texting since then. He was a good friend at first and we've shared many problems with each other. He's always supported me in my career and is a wonderful person. With time I started liking him. A few days back he confessed he is in love with me. I'm confused about my feelings. How can I know what I truly feel for him? Do I love him or not? I've never met him so I'm a bit hesitant if it's going to work or not. He says he'll always support me. He respected my decision and gave me time to sort out my feelings.

I only fell in love once with someone online and that was my previous ex I was gonna marry. It definitely took a lot though and took some time but I don’t know there was just something about him and the way he carried himself and how similar we seemed to be and how much we clicked personality wise beside how he was abusive to me emotionally, I put up with that for a year hoping he would change and make the effort but things only got worse instead of better, makes me realize how emotionally hard it is for long distance alone and also being in a relationship with someone having those mental health issues, I had my own faults as well too but I’m not doubting feelings can’t grow online because they can but when you think back to reality you have to be realistic unless you definitely plan to meet this person and not jump head on too quickly or you could get hurt.

He's always been supportive. I questioned him about LDR but he said that long distance is the best way to see the potential in a relationship coz if you can survive it then you truly want to be there for the person. So he has never been emotionally abusive towards me.

I think you can fall in love with idea of an online person/personality, but, often that person is different in reality.

I would save the love confession till you actually meet a few times and know they are exactly the same person you got to know online.

No point in getting too far down the road and being disappointed.

If he turns out to be the person you got to know, then its all goooood!
