If a guy knows I like him but he doesn’t like me back why is he still messaging/replying to me?

I worked with this guy and after a while of getting to know each other I admitted I liked him. He called me a few times pretending he didn't mean to, he would compliment me, he told his friends I would be a good girlfriend etc…he said I looked amazing. He and I reconnected recently and he replies to my messages quickly but doesn’t initiate so Im just wondering why he would do this knowing how I feel about I’m…Is he just being friendly or is he into me?

Because we are all attention seeking addicts that don't like to admit we are this way. It feels good to be liked even when we may not have mutal feelings. When it stops we tend to notice it and void of it its not uncommon to go to the last place we got it. If his feelings have changed and he realized that he is into you which is a possibility he needs to make the effort. He will if he does and if he doesn't thats ok either way don't hold your breath and wait live your life its not your issue if you moved on let him know you have but don't hold this over his head as a bad thing he just may not be as emotionally mature as you.

I kinda of agree, I’ve never sat around and laughed at someone’s expense. But.. I have waited till I was home alone with no one to talk to. I used her for conversation while chasing someone who didn’t give me the attention I wanted.

First thing first, not everyone looks for a romantic relationship so maybe he doesn't like romantically but as a friend. Remember you work together so you are bond to be friends.
