No because saying I´m sorry is said easier in a way that it´s easier to say it and not mean it. While saying I apologize takes more courage and is therefore more meaningful to me. Since at least in my experience more people say I´m sorry pretty quickly while saying I apologize needs a state of reflection before that is said since it´s more specific.

It really depends on the person.

In a very general sense, yes, it means the same.

But, some people will say "I apologize" as some sort of fuzzy, less committed version of "I'm sorry".

Others mean them both with the same level of sincerity and genuineness.

It’s definitely not. There is a difference between acknowledging that you have done something wrong and suggesting that you feel bad for doing it.
Neither is necessarily better than the other, out of context. They each have appropriate uses. The difference might be lost on some people, so knowing the difference and knowing your audience are key.

Yes, but I usually think that simply saying "I'm sorry" is rather lame.

I think it is the same meaning, but it entirely depends on the tone people use when apologizing. Usually saying "I apologize" is more formal with less emotions and therefore carries a different meaning. That's why there's a difference in how people receive apologies based on the words you say. If you're trying to apologize, then you should say it with emotion and intent

Technically it is not. You can apologize about something that may have made somebody angry but still no regret what you did.

"I'm sorry" is what you say when you accidently step on someone's foot, or bump into them at the store. An apology is a whole different animal.

That's the way I interpret the words. An apology involves something much more meaningful and deeper to me. "Sorry" doesn't convey the same thing to my mind.

It depends on the person. They both mean the same thing, but each word carries more weight than the other depending on who says it to who.

Saying "I apologise" comes off as insincere. Akin to the classic politicians' "mistakes were made" line which is technically an apology but detaches the speaker from directly saying they were at fault.

It's the same meaning. I am sorry = I apologize = Excuse me = Pardon me.

I think either can be said flippantly or meaningfully and it's the attitude behind it that counts. Personally, when I say I apologize it's usually more flippant than when I say I'm sorry
