What is your opinion on silent people.. people who don't say a single word?

A chinese proverb says, he who knows does not speak and he who speaks does not know.

Silence, in most western cultures, is observed as weakness or shyness- it appears as avoiding confrontation.

But for me, it is a very powerful tool because it demonstrates self control. Especially in conflict. I do not need to bring myself down to petty level or useless debate. Focus on the task at hand. Let their blabbering be their demise.

They're good people. They don't talk much, but they listen and hear everything.

A lot of my quiet friends are more talkative when it's just them and I. Much better conversations
