Do you get annoyed if your partner always makes the same jokes?

I do not get upset when my partner makes the same jokes as long as it is not clownish. In fact, when I have heard that one I will "brilliantly" and correctly guess the joke and eventually with that was just a funny now as it was at Christmas kind of thing.

When I started dating this girl I would purposefully tell the same joke within 4 meets. I always came with two new jokes for those silent moments where a woman is looking for the guy to man-up and make that uncomfortable moment go away. We made our own one night after moving through third into fourth martini. Anyway, same joke telling was to make certain she knew I was "forgetful". This is important since it is mostly true and half the things women say have to be dismissed as overly emotional and no harm intended. Forgetfulness for a male is a survival skill.

Generally yes if people repeat themselves too often. Of course I understand if someone tried to assimilate into a new group and repeats a jokes and stories I already know.

If it was my joke, and she snapped and screamed about me being obnoxious because I do a stock joke - I think I would be very tempted to snap back. But if it was just a joke and just thought she was snapping at me because of stress and not that it was annoying her, I’d probably bring it back after a break. If I thought it really offended her or ticked her off, I’d at least cut way down, at least in private.


If HER joke was something I heard a million times and I liked it, or was called to pretend… I’d play along and laugh like it was the first time ever.


One of my brothers and I do all kinds of injokes with each other… and if we can fit some reference in in a creative way, we love it. We recognize it as a callback… or kind of like pantomime theater, where the audience is in on the joke and they know what to say (or can learn quickly).

I'm not a repeat joke kind of guy. I typically joke about stuff on-the-fly and depends what we are discussing at the time.

If either my daughter or my girl get to serious about something, then I might lighten the mood a little... not all the time though.

Absolutely. That’s a breakup-able offense especially if your partner makes you think they have new material and then, months later, they start just reusing the same jokes. It’s like neglecting to tell your partner you have a child from a previous relationship

LOL. That sounds like my parents, especially my dad. But the funniest thing is when my mom tells me and my dad to "shut up" because she can't hear what they're saying in the television, then she starts blabbing herself, 5 seconds later.
And my dad will keep talking even if we tell him multiple times to shut up. It's he has OCD and feel obligated to say what he wants to say.

@KostasKouvalis Sound like my family my mother family is quite loud but my father family not at all they're pretty quiet (except when my grandfather is angry then he make more noises than everybody reunited). I used to be scared of him since he yelled so loud.

My grandparents from my mom's side were usually very calm, so was my cousin, but my uncle from her side became very aggressive. My dad's father died before I was born, but his mother and her sister were freakin' scary! I don't really remember Grandma Emilia, as I only saw her when I was little, but Aunt Stenia was freakin' terrifying! Everyone was afraid of her. I saw her when I visited in 2011, and she looked like a witch, and when she hugged me, I thought she was gonna break me. LOL

My dad's family also talk very fast. My first day of being around them, I couldn't understand them at all

Yeah, that's actually kind of true, except for my grandma from my mom's side and my aunt from my dad's side. My dad an uncle are only scary when they're drunk. My uncle from my mom's side terrifying when he gets angry. I haven't talked to him years.
My cousin's wife from my dad's side isn't scary, but she knows how to get respect. And other ones are just mean, intimidating.

But half of them are dead now anyways. But my dad said Grandma Emilia used to make him and his brothers kneel on peas in church
