Fiction, whether book or movie, is the telling of stories that are not real in a narrative and/or visual form.
Fictional characters are exactly fictional so whatever we want them to be is what they will be. Any story can be written for a Fiction, therefore, fictional characters have boyfriends and girlfriends because the author chooses to write those features into the story.
Fall in love? Arranged marriage? Money? Got pregnant? Immigration.
What do you mean by “money”?
One marries the other for money. One great example is in Downton Abbey: Lord Grantham married Cora for her fortune; she married him for the title.
Okay. What about parents asked their child to marry for money?
That would actually be brilliant. There's an added layer of tension.
So. What does that mean?
Two people marrying for money is already a layer of tension between two fictional characters. If one of the parents asked one of them to marry for money, it would add additional tension. Tension is good in a story.
Okay. Like everything wee see in Dragon Ball Z.
