Is it true that the trick to happiness is dating and marrying someone who loves you more than you love him?

Someone older than me told me this and there are two guys who like me more than I like them, although I think they’re fantastic. Should I pick one of them to settle down with if we have mutual chemistry?

Eh. I kinda disagree with quantifying love on that degree. Love should be mutual. Comparing one’s feelings to another’s when they both love each other, feels wrong to me.


I do think that having people around you who you connect with and enjoy being with is one piece of happiness. However, there is more to happiness than just this. I don’t think there is a singular “trick” to happiness.

Yes, I've heard the same theory. And I tend to be happier when the guy seems more attracted to me than I am of him. It makes me feel desired, and it makes me want to have sex with him and feel more attracted to him when I know that he likes me a lot.

Marriage doesn’t seem to be for everyone, but when it is partners should love each other more than they love themselves.
“He loves me more than he loves himself”, not “He loves me more than I love him”.
