Why do some people rely on a relationship for happiness?

I noticed with some girls, they cannot be single. They must have a boyfriend in order to be happy. I have a few friends like that, where they will jump right into a new relationship or start talking to someone new every few months after the old one. It’s strange how some people NEED another person to make them happy. I don’t believe in needing a relationship to fulfill myself because once that person is gone, so is your happiness. A friend of mine constantly has a new boyfriend every few months and then complains when they break her heart. I find it absurd how some women are this dependent on another person.

Their thinking is all wrong. They think the purpose of life is to have a relationship, to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend.

These people don't know how to be happy on their own. They wrongly connect happiness with the need of having someone in their life but they forget that if they cannot be happy on their own then no matter what they cannot be happy even in relationships.

Most commonly happens to people that are needy, extremely insecure, Lack of Self Reliance where they are never a leader but instead a follower which in turn is subject to many disappointments but after a certain age people usually grow out of it but the one's who don't end up being in dead-end/abusive relationships but feel they can't settle for better. Based on the relationship advice everyone gives, it's not possible.

They would have needed to be happy alone before they'd would eligible to be in a relationship. You can't rely on a relationship for happiness because you need to be happy first. Something isn't adding up

It's not so much a relationship, it's an intimate connection people need physically and emotionally, it's biology and an emotional bond
