I used to think that there's happiness to be gained from relationships, but most people here said that you don't need a relationship to be happy. You should be just as happy being single, as you are in a relationship.
Being happy alone is a prerequisite for even being able to get into a relationship, if they're already happy, what more does a relationship offer that the risk of heart break and having to be concerned with another person makes it worth it?

What Girls Said
Because most people want body contact and to feel emotionally aligned with someone.. So you can be happy single but we all crave human contact and love.
So why is the advice to single people who want to find partners, to not look and then they're told "relationships won't make you happy"? Why don't they give actual advice understanding that people crave human contact and love?
I suppose its because people searching for love often put out desperate vibes or they end up kind of taking people who aren't that good for them when trying to find that one person. It's often better to just wait and when you least expect it that perfect person comes along. Plus they say it won't make you happy because if you aren't happy in your life now having a partner isn't gonna automatically fix your life and make you happy. My advice is just live life, get out and do new things and meet lots of people. You are bound to eventually meet someone that mutually likes you. Also if you see someone looking at you and you think they are cute, chat to them since you never know.. it could lead somewhere.
Doesn't that imply that people with relationships are living their lives in better ways that puts them in positions to meet potential partners?
Essentially, would you say all people looking for relationships are deficient in self happiness?
Basically finding a partner a moral achievement that comes with meeting the criteria rather than something someone works towards? Basically dating apps cannot ever work since no one was actively looking for a partner in can get one, only people who achieve self happiness randomly get them.
Because even though I was happy when I was single, I am much more happy with my husband.
God forbid, if you lost him, would you be just as happy as you were when you were single since you achieved that?
Also, why do people say it's okay to be single to discourage people from looking for relationships when you clearly get more happiness? Like why why is it assumed that people asking for help finding relationships are unhappy instead of not as happy?
I don't really know. I think I would probably be very sad for a long time and it would probably be hard to become happy again.
But I don't think people say it's okay to be single to discourage others from looking for relationships, I think they say it's okay to be single to discourage people from getting desperate and making bad choices about relationships.
Why is the advice to people looking to find a partner to just be happy alone then?
a relationship should ADD to your happiness, not be the CAUSE of it. Being wilfully obtuse is a troll feature it seems
