there's many reasons but one of the main reasons is consistency of rules

if the 1st sex partner was just hot and never took you on a date or did anything romantic but ended up getting sex anyway, don't expect the 2nd potential sex partner to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars taking you on expensive holidays, write you into his will to inherit a fortune if he happens to pass away unexpected and he also has to wait till marriage for sex just to get the same the 1st sex partner got without putting effort

same thing if the first 50 sex partners were all hookups/one night stands, don't expect the 51st partner to take you more seriously than the previous 50 sex partners
