If your significant other called you by a former partners name what would you do. Keeping in mind that it sometime happens if a widowed person marries someone who is like their deceased partner.

There's a certain memory process in the brain whereby past names of people take a long time to be replaced by new people's names. It doesn't have anything to do with how much they like their new significant other. I often think of my crush's name all the time, but when I go to actually say their name out loud, a different person's name comes out. Not necessarily my ex boyfriend's name, but a name that I knew of before that starts with the same letter. Like some ethnic names that I have never heard of before, I wind up blurting out another ethnic name that I knew of before that starts with the same letter.
I've seen parents call kids by another child's name. It would not bother me.
