Heterosexuals - does it occur to anyone some couples may want full fidelity whilst others may both prefer free-rein?

This is for heterosexuals only. I've been thinking: at least in theory, it is valid to consentually be exclusive to each other, or to agree to 'yes, you can copulate with others when you'd like that'.

The point being it is far better (and safer) to agree on this than to go 'cheating'.

I think of course, whatever the people in the relationship decide. But I can also see that some people who may have considered monogamy before might have a more open relationship if they thought it might help with the risk of wanting sex with other people. Definitely not for everyone, but for some just communicating and being open is all they need, and the can be happy together and reduce friction with it. I understand your point and agree with it. If I'm hearing it all correct?

Yes. However, I would end the relationship as soon as it was brought up to have non-monogamy.

That's the norm. I am not saying I wouldn't, at this point more concerned with being able to plan for retirement and beyond, to not be cheated, than to specify monogamy.
