I don't think it's stupid if both parties have the same goals and integrity in relationships. For example; if a woman in her 20s has traditional values, and a single man in his 40s has those same values and wishes to court her, there shouldn't be a problem with a relationship going forward if there is mutual interest.

"Lovers" implies casual sex, and I think it is a bad idea for people to have casual sex at all because it ruins their chances of having a successful relationship with a good partner.

That age gap is totally fine though if they are going to be in a long term exclusive relationship. As long as they have compatible morals, compatible long term life goals, and have some things in common they enjoy doing together it could work long term.
