So, I have a pup back in my country, my mom got him, but I raised him till he was 5 months old, my mom got him, because mom lives alone in a countryside villa with a grandma, who’s got Alzheimer’s. So she’s taking care of her and wanted to have a friend and a loyal companion.
She has got a pup that’s half Cabe Corso, half Alabai. He’s got a very independent temper. I raised him till 5 and he was in my small apartment, he loved being around humans, couldn’t fall asleep without me and was chasing me everywhere. I made sure to show him love so he wouldn’t be aggressive when he’d grow up. He got spoiled though, when he broke rules, he fought to me instead of feeling guilty. He was more respectful to my brother though. To him I was more like a playmate.
So, at some point I had to leave and I made sure he’d get accustomed to my mom’s villa as smoothly as possible, so I often took him there, I tried to socialize him with other dogs and people, but one day one adult husky almost bite him and then I was more careful.
When he was little, he was scared of every dog, and sometimes he would look the other way to avoid the looks of other dogs. We didn’t want him to be so scared around every other dog, so we encouraged him to go out more often.
As he grew older, he got the genes of his Alabai parent, he is 10 months old now and is huge, about 65 kg, no fat. He’s no more afraid of anyone or anything.
Because we raised him like our own family member, he is very gentle and docile to us, but with others he is quite curious, aggressive and temperamental.
Today he jumped out of the top of the balcony and chased other dogs.
I wonder what we should do to make sure he doesn’t chase away other dogs and doesn’t make neighbors live in terror.
Probably I made a mistake raising him the way I did and maybe I must have been more stroct, but it was my first time raising a pet, I now wonder, how do we make him more chill and relaxed. We don’t want neighbors to be scared and we want this boy to live as free life as possible.
