Why does someone ghost someone?

There can be many reasons, so anything written here may not apply to your situation. Sometimes, person A was just looking for a light, playful diversion, yet never stated that clearly. When person A realizes person B is getting invested, person A may feel like a heel for not being clear and just want to escape without getting caught. Sometimes, person C might feel person D will overreact, so disappears to avoid that confrontation.

Generally, ghosting is done when one person is fearful of getting caught and being held accountable for using or being inconsiderate of the feelings of the other or when believing a negative experience will happen when people say this isn't working for them.
