Can you make situationships work?

I'll spare you the long-winded details of my journey so far. In short, I've come to the realisation that despite feeling love for partners and enjoying the romance and intimacy of being in relationships, relationships aren't really my thing. I genuinely enjoy being single. But I won't deny attraction and love when it happens, so I've become curious about the concept of situationships.

I'm interested in hearing from people who have made situationships or other similar relationship structures work (short or long term). How did you do it? What are some good ground rules to discuss or live by when doing things this way? Did you define the relationships in any way (and if so, how?).

Flings, fun, situationships and any other name people use for just casual sex doesn't appeal to me. I've always wanted a relationship.
I just want stability, and the future planning and doing that comes with a relationship.
I believe in partnership and alignment between two people pretty much against the world.
But it seems these days no one person can wholeheartedly say they are completely compatible with another.
Too many contradictory opinions, too many greener grass situations, and just a sheer reluctance to play an equal part in the situation.

This I'm sure will work for you. But it's a sad existence in my book.
And I totally get it.

Why get bogged down with a partner when you don't want kids. You don't want to be asked to go to events to support the other person. Why get to know their family, when you'll probably just get divorced. But what a sad perspective to have on life. "Why should I? "

Situationships don't work long term. Either one or both parties are going to fall for the other eventually. It always should be a short term relationship that either is going to lead to an actual relationship or a short term fling that ends.

My very first time with someone was a situationship where I fell for the guy but he didn't fall for me. Needless to say it was a short term fling.

The second situationship or what I prefer to call friends with benefits turned into a relationship because both of us ended up having feelings for one another that was undeniable.

You’re just having casual sex and no discipline in yourself. They don’t work at all because they only serve one purpose and that’s just crappy relations. Too many men and women talk about relationships are not their thing and enjoy being single, but have you ever considered that maybe you need to realize you enjoy a woman’s company? You actually get lonely? And also you put on a façade that being single is so great for casual sex?


Do you ever ask yourself that? Because this is just a big waste of time for people who acknowledge feelings and desire intimacy.

I assume you are talking about friends with benefits. The key word is friends, if it goes beyond that it will never work.

uh no... even if you two agree, one of you is going to break and want something more or get attached. it doesn't work for a reason.
