You have a low self image.

Self image is of the mind.
Mind isn't a thing but an activity.
Feeling is the language of the subconscious mind
You feel uncomfortable around a lot of people and even probably when you see someone you kinda know it public you feel uncomfortable. You probably enjoy the pandemic.

If you want to be more like him you have to alter your self image.

But maybe you should sit down with him and dicuss what you both want your relationship to look like. Maybe he's tired of being social and wants to be more like you. Who knows.
