So, there’s this 26 years old guy who offered me to be his business partner for diamond business in Georgia, he already has a diamond business, but I am so clueless in business, plus he was calling me all the time and I wonder why he is so interested to be a business partner with me, I told him I have no idea how to do it, he told me it’s okay he will teach me, he also said he would come to Shanghai for the inspection of products and would like to meet up with me.

I wonder why would he want to be a business partner with a girl who only answers his calls and messages once a month?

And do you think I should give it a try?

It’s mainly his dad’s business but he takes part in it as well. Why would he want to teach me about diamond business. I have not even worn a diamond ever.

He just called me and told me there’s a Georgian guy coming in Shanghau, willing to have a business with him and he’d like me to meet him with me, as I am Georgian too and it would make relationship smoother and more trustworthy to that guy to know that he has a Georgian friend.

He also asked me, whether I have started my business and how could he help me to start, he knows i am interested in having my business.

And he seems to have been very respectful all along and he just told me he needs connections in my country and he thinks I am a very trustworthy person, because he has talked to me 8 months ago, when I was 2 months out of my break up and he used to call me on phone and just listen to me for hours.

I don’t know whose best friends diamonds are but they definitely are not mine, or I would not keep most of his messages on seen for 8 months.

Then my Georgian friend and I wanted to start a business and when he heard of that, he was calling me and giving me consultations on how to do things.

I have a female friend of mine who started a company recently. We get along well. But even if I had some sort of opportunity to drastically help her business, I wouldn’t incessantly contact her. I’d just be like, “Hey, I know you’ve started doing XYZ. I happen to have been doing XYZ myself successfully for 5 years now. If you’re up for it, I’d love to help you out and teach you what I’ve learned from my own experience.”

If she accepts, cool. Is she is busy or declines, that’s fine. I’d just let her know I’m there if she wants any of my help.

Perhaps unscrupulous of me, but if someone were behaving that way toward me but not being honest about ulterior motives, I would take them at face value and say "okay, sure, what is the risk to me? No risk? You're just going to set me up with a lucrative business with no strings attached? Okay, I don't mind that." but I would have clear boundaries if they tried anything romantic. Of course, if I naturally fell in love with them, that's fine, but I'm not going to mix business with pleasure to improve business.

I also grew up in China, moved to the US with my family at a young age.
I have visited China and lived there for a semester before the Soviet Union separated from Russia. I also lived with lots of former Soviet Union nationalities in NY…lots moved here after the fall of USSA in the 90s. We go to their restaurants often and they are doing really well in NY.
