How often are you told “I love you”?

My family always tells me they love me when they call me,

In a relationship, I was told it almost every day.

I was thinking today and seems like nothing changed, I am told “I love you” every single day, by lots of different people at work and seems like I do something right, because others are not told that so often. I feel happy for it, these “I love yous” make me feel appreciated and makes me feel that probably I do something differently since so many people think it’s safe to hug me and tell me they love me. Sometimes, I wonder, what do I do to deserve this. But they do brighten up my days and put a smile on my face.

Being a single guy their isn't a lot of days where someone says this to me. Altough I do have have some female friends that do tell me from time till time that they love me for who I am by means of appreciation I guess 🤷‍♂️

Feel blessed that people love you and appreciate it as much as you can because you are privileged with so much love and attention! Their are many good people out there who crave this kind of affection but they dont get it altough they deserve it.

Growing up, never. So i feel awkward saying it myself.

As far as how often i hear it, well, now I have a 3 year old daughter. She hugs me and says "I love you, daddy" everyday. Sometimes it makes me cry because, again, I've never heard it growing up and coming from her, it just feels real.

Almost never. That's not something we do in our culture really. It's considered a bit too sentimental or dishonest if used in non-serious circumstances.

I check in with my mom every day since she lives alone with her dog. She says it. I feel like my rescue kittens are saying it when they headbutt my calves and rub their faces on me. A baby raccoon made biscuits on my boot two days ago and fell asleep between my feet. That was life saying "I love you."

Yeah you would certainly never get that from my siblings anyhow , I do get from my daughters which is nice who are now grown women , but I think its really nice that you get it , to a degree when its all the time , then its an affirmation of sorts.

Don't quite understand why they say it to you at work , but all good.

But have not you thought, what if someday we don’t wake up, or what if something happens, isn’t it better to know you said you loved them?

Once I thought I’d die and that was the only thing I regretted that my then boyfriend didn’t know I loved him, because I hadn’t told yet and that I didn’t tell my brother how much I loved him.

After that I always made sure to say it because we never know when’s our last day.
