Age, in and of itself, doesn't impact the ability people have to connect with each other. You don't want to minimize the connection you have with your mentor, just because of the age difference.

On the other hand, intimate relationships tend to be more stable over time if both people are in the same developmental stage. For what reason, other than money, would a woman in her 30s actively seek a partner who is twice her age? Will the older person be expected to live the life of a younger person, or will the younger person be expected to live the life of an older person? Generally, we expect the other person to conform to what is familiar to us, and that can lead to conflict. It is generally more comfortable when people share similar priorities.

Assuming we are talking about adults here, chronological age often doesn't matter. People's biological age and their maturity levels don't always match their chronological age. Compatibility is what matters.

That is a loaded question because it depends on what age you are talking about. We are the same age and if we are talking about our age then not so much. I don't usually date people but maybe a year younger. I will date people a few years older. If someone came along that was much older and we just fell in love then that is what it is. You can't help who you fall in love with. The problem is when you hear these people that are 20 saying they are into a 16 year old. While maybe legal in some places doesn't mean right.

How much age difference? At marriage, the guy 2-3 years older (50%) is most common and up to 6 years is about 20%. 10% are 10 years older.

I don't think it matters at all. If their is love their is love and I think it helps if the guy is older.

If they are of legal age, consenting, and happy then no.

But they have to make it work. And it'll be work and they'll get shit for it from a lot of people.

But if the only thing in the way is age (and it's legal) go for it.

I think it makes a relationship harder if there is a big age difference. It makes it hard to relate to the other person. I dated someone who was only 5 years younger than me but my life experiences were very different than hers and sometimes she just did not know why I act the way I do

It can be, since you two could be at different positions in your life right now or in 5 years later.

EX: The girl could be 24, but focusing on her career, whereas the guy is 30 and wants kids.

For short term relationships an age difference is fine. Long term things get difficult late in life when one person is too old to be active but the other isn't.
