No way. I would stick by their side. What they need is encouragement and support. That is what having a partner is for. During those tough times they are a person to lean on. I would not kick someone while they were down and certainly through no fault of their own. Personally I'd do whatever I could and help them search and keep their spirits up. A good partner would do the same for me.
