Is liking fictional characters an ick now?

We’re both separately playing bg3 and she got mad at me when I was happy about romancing a character. She told me she got the ick. But when she does it, it’s fine. Doesn’t really make sense to me since I didn’t care that she did. We tried talking about it but it just felt like I was pushing her away. It’s gonna be really dumb to break up over this man.

She's immature and has unreasonable and uneven expectations for you.

If she's getting upset over a video game (and from what I know of BG3, not only are romances part of the game, they are somewhat involved and some require strategy), you need to re-evaluate if you want to deal with someone so insecure.

I watch my boyfriend play Baldur’s Gate all the time and it is a fun game with a great story. Romancing characters is part of the fun, just like dating sim games. Heck, I used to play Pacthesis anime dating games all the time! That doesn’t mean I’m in love with fictional characters. She’s being silly.

Okay so what is bg3 first off? I don't know what that is. Do you mean "ick" as in icky like gross? I would assume that is what you are asking. Well yeah it is kinda weird to romance as you put it a fake character. Just liking a character. I guess what do you mean by like? You can like a video game or whatever but trying to make emotional connections to fake characters is a bit weird.

It’s a video game. There’s characters you can romance in the story. I don’t actually feel anything for these characters as I know they’re fictional. But my girlfriend told me it was a turn off when I talked about it with her.
