First of all, a LOT of women are one bad date away from swearing off men entirely. That’s not shocking at all. And I’m sure it’s no different in the case of a lot of men. Being alone isn’t such a terrible thing.
Second of all, having a crush on a fictional character is the same as having a crush on a celebrity, and that’s surprisingly healthy PROVIDED that you understand how boundaries work. If you do, then you know that fantasies about them are just that, essentially another form of entertainment that you get to enjoy. And if that helps people enjoy their alone space more, I don’t think it’s a problem.
It only becomes a problem when you use it as a means of trying to convince yourself it’s the best you’ll ever have when you want the real deal. Being alone isn’t bad for you as long as you know how to make yourself happy and you enjoy your own company. If you hate yourself, it only ends badly.

It's because real women in their surroundings lost the ability to fuel imagination of those guys. The art of seduction is in high extent control of someones imagination.
