If you’ve had kids, how did you decide that you wanted them?

Was there a checklist or pros & cons list that you went through before deciding? Or was it a no-brainer? Were you scared that you’d regret your decision?

I always wanted them. Had cousins who were 10 years younger, neices and nephews started arriving when I was in teens so grew up around younger kids.
Fast forward I was child free at 35. My ex unexpectedly fell pregnant, lost through miscarriage. For a couple of weeks I was going to become a father. It led to a lot of soul searching about it (as it was she ended relationship so I would be a part time father, so it was very emotional knowing I would be away from child).
When I met my now fiancé I think we were both in the mindset that we both wanted children, we moved very quick. We've known each other for 5 years, we have a 3 n half year old and a 2 yr old

I don't have kids of my own. My girlfriend has 3 and 2 grandkids. I love her and I kids and grandkids like they're my own.

Was I ready, no. Will you be ready, no. Honestly no one is ready. But its whatever you define as ready.

There was never any doubt, from the time I was a little kid, that someday I would get married and have a family. And I did that. There was no checklist or goals, just a innate desire to have kids and make my contribution toward continuing the human existence.

I always wanted kids and I accidently got pregnant with my 1st so it kind of just fell into place that I became a mom at the right time. Wasn't much to think through

I just suddenly started getting these intense feelings of wanting a baby. Every time I'd see one it would be like an ache in the pit of my stomach. Weird biological urge.

As soon as my husband and I got engaged, we came of birth control and now we have 2.

I suffer heavily with post natal depression, And most days, i do regret having them. Life changes fucking drastically when you have kids, and most mothers will be like me, in that you lose your uniqueness and now are just "mom of a/b/kid". You lose your identity and things that make you who you are.

Of course, there's some happy moments too. They can be cute and such. And even though I feel the way I do, I'm working hard to help them grow with confidence and be happy.

I've always wanted kids, so yea it was a no brainer. Was only a question of when, where, and who with? Which, tbf, none of those were what I planned when the kid came lol. But the kid was always the plan, ultimately.

She was on the baby train before I met her but wasn't sure how to make it happen. When we got together, it was a no brainer for her.

She was a woman so made sense she wanted them and that was in the expected life script for me.

We scheduled it and made it happen. Neither of us had regrets.

We used to foster, one girl we had said "why should I do what you tell me when you are just going to throw me away again like everybody else does?" my SO and I looked at each other, nodded, and decided there and then to adopt her,,,

We just went to bed one night and 9 months later we were parents. That was the extent of it. We never even wanted to know the sex. We just waited to find out.

I said hmmmm. I'm not the best at relationships and decides to dedicate my 20s to getting land for a tortoise farm, I have 3 babies. MY TORTS LOL! I just went in on the life commitment because they bring me such joy and when they breed I can make a handsome amount of money.
