I’m in love with him and he says he loves me but he told me he misses his ex and when I asked if he would go back with her if she asked he said he would but that wasn’t going to happen since she’s engaged

I'd leave him. I honestly don't think people should get into relationships when they still have feelings for someone else. People should always heal themselves and give themselves time to move on from that person before moving to another.
