Is polygamy good for society?

I feel like I've seen a trend online, mainly in the redpill/manosphere space, that says that it's okay for a man to cheat. But it's a one-sided open thing. Basically polygamy.

If men were given the safety to cheat freely, while still coming back home to their wife/girlfriend, would it be better for society and or relationships in general?

Im not sure it would be enough. This year was the first time i questioned if i could be in something that was not monogamous. And honestly, I don't know if even two dudes would be enough for me. I mean in terms of sex, yes, but i’d only want to give that to one. The other is mainly for emotional fulfillment. But at the same time, its hard to come across a full emotional match and I’d seek that in several guys. So yea I don't know if polygamy would fix anything because i think people would still not be satisfied

One sided cheating isn't polygamy.

Polygamy is a consenting relationship between multiple adults, maintained in a defined and mutual way.

It's a normal relationship just with more than one partner.

What you're describing is just cheating. Maybe a one-sided open relationship, or non-monogamy. But that ain't polyamory.

I think if more people were in tune with what they wanted out of a relationship, communicated that clearly, and worked with their significant other (s), the world would be a better place.

It's just tolerated cheating on a wife who who either doesn't actually want it, or isn't that invested in the relationship in the first place/isn't in a marriage of love. In Japan, a lot of women tolerate their man cheating with prostitutes and hookups. I know there are other reasons for this but obviously women not feeling loved and valued and feeling like just one among the others must count a little bit. i don't think we can say for sure because we've really never lived in a society where polygamy was an accepted and widely practiced lifestyle

my sense it is not a healthy model for a society though. jealousy, envy, etc are all very natural and prevalent human traits. it seems to me that wide spread polygamy would result in many crimes of passion

Studies show a strong 2 parent household raises the healthiest, best kids. Broken homes and fatherless homes tend to have more criminals, drop outs, sex workers, drug users, promiscuous kids.

Having more and more partners just swapping each other and kids coming up with unknown father situations and unstable homes would definitely be bad.

I honestly don't know if there are as many studies on that. If there are I don't know what the data shows.
I am under the understanding that a mom is more important in the early years. Moms are typicall the ones "loving" the child and being tender and empathetic and nurturing. When a child falls and skins their knee and they cry they usually want mom, not dad. Mom coddles the child and wants to protect them from every boo boo. Fathers become more and more important the older they get. Fathers are the opposite end of the scale, not as nurturing, they bring the discipline the obedience, the passing of knowledge and coaching. They teach men how to be men and to obey laws, not give up and cry over things but to get up again and work hard, they teach their daughters to be wise and cautious around guys, to be more reserved for worthy men and to not run after the attention of just any guy because the wrong guy could destroy their lives. They don't need attention and validation as strongly from men when they already get love, attention, support, protection from a loving father. Men are more apt to not coddle a child and let's a child struggle and overcome challenges. A dad is more likely to reject the whining and "feelings" when the child wants to give up but rather instills that life is hard, no one owes you anything, no one gives a crap about you in the real world other then family so if you want to be successful then be competent, work hard, never give up, strive for what you want and your goals.
There is a slang saying that fathers keep their sons out of prison and their daughters off of the stripper pole.
